Ingredients

  • 8 lb. cucumbers
  • 2 c. lime
  • 2 gal. water
  • 2 qt. vinegar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 11 c. sugar or 5 lb. bag
  • 1 or 2 tsp. turmeric
  • pickling spice to taste (about 2 Tbsp.)

Directions

    Wash and cut cucumbers in 1/4-inch sliess.

    Soak in water and lime 8 to 10 hours.

    Wash several times to get lime out.
  4. 4
    Put cucumbers in solution made with rest of ingredients.

    Let stand 3 hours.

    Boil in same solution for 30 minutes.

    Put in clean hot jars and seal.
  8. 8
    Makes 7 or 8 quarts.
