Ingredients
- 7 lb. cucumbers, washed
- 2 c. lime
- 2 gal. water
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. celery seed
- 2 Tbsp. whole cloves
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spice
- 3 Tbsp. canning salt
- 4 1/2 lb. sugar
Directions

1Make a brine with the lime and water.

2Stir well to dissolve lime.

3Slice cucumbers in 1/4-inch slices and soak in lime brine for 24 hours.

4Rinse well.

5Cover with cold water and drain. Bring vinegar, celery seed, cloves, spices, salt and sugar to a boil and pour over drained cucumbers.

6Let set overnight.

7Next morning, bring cucumbers and solution to a boil.

8Simmer until pickles become clear.

9Pack in jars and seal.

10Green food coloring may be added to make nice green pickles.
