  • 1 12 lbs ground turkey
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • kosher salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans vegetarian baked beans
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups biscuit mix (such as Bisquick)
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 12 cup egg substitute (such as Egg Beaters)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 12 cups shredded low-fat cheddar cheese

Directions

    Preheat the oven to 350F (175C).

    Crumble the ground turkey into a large skillet over medium heat and season with salt and pepper.

    When fully browned (5-8 min), transfer to a 13x9 casserole with a slotted spoon.

    Add vegetable oil to pan, then stir in the onion and garlic, and season with salt and pepper.

    Continue to saute until the onion is tender and translucent, 3-5 minute.

    Stir in the baked beans, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder and oregano.

    Add to turkey in casserole dish and stir well.

    Sprinkle 3/4 c shredded Cheddar cheese over the meat and beans.

    In a separate bowl, mix together the baking mix, milk, egg substitute and honey.

    Pour this mixture evenly over the dish.

    Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until the biscuit topping is golden brown.

    Sprinkle with remaining Cheddar cheese and return to oven for 5 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.
