Lower Fat Spaghetti Pie

  • 1/2 lb. spaghetti, uncooked
  • 1/3 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 3 egg whites
  • Pam or Mazola spray
  • 8 oz. fat-free cottage cheese
  • 1/2 lb. 85% or leaner hamburger
  • sliced onions, green pepper or mushrooms (as desired)
  • 1 pkg. spaghetti sauce mix, prepared as directed or 2 c. premixed
  • 1/4 c. shredded Mozzarella

Directions

    Cook and drain pasta; remove 1 cup.

    Toss rest with Parmesan cheese and egg whites.

    Turn into sprayed 10-inch pie plate and press to form crust.

    Spread cottage cheese on top.

    Brown hamburger and drain well.

    Stir in 1 cup spaghetti and spaghetti sauce.

    Spoon meat over cottage cheese.

    Top with onions, peppers and mushrooms, as desired.

    Cover loosely with greased foil and bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

    Sprinkle with shredded cheese.

    Bake 10 minutes longer, uncovered.
