Ingredients

  • 8 eggs, separated
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 3 c. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 gal. milk

Directions

    Scald the first 3 cups of milk.

    Beat the egg yolks with 1/2 of the sugar.

    Add salt and cornstarch.

    Stir in hot milk and beat well.

    Heat mixture again and add vanilla.

    Remove from heat.

    Beat egg whites and add remaining sugar.

    Pour warm mixture over beaten egg whites.

    Place mixture into freezer.

    Add enough milk to fill. Freeze according to freezer directions.
