Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. cake flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream butter, add sugar and eggs, beat well.

    Sift flour and salt; add to butter mixture along with milk, baking powder, soda and vanilla.

    Beat until batter is of smooth consistency.

    Pour into well-greased pans and bake at 350° for about 35 minutes. Makes 3 layers.

    Cool for 10 minutes before icing with Seven Minute Icing.

    Sprinkle each layer with chopped pecans.
