- 6 to 6 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter-flavor Crisco
- 1 egg
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
Directions

1In a large bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups flour, salt, sugar, yeast and Crisco.

2On low speed of the mixer, add 2 cups of hot water (120° to 130°) and add the egg.

3Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes.

4With mixer, beat in 1 or 2 cups of additional flour.

5If using dough hooks, change to them to add the remainder of the flour to make a smooth dough.

6If mixing by hand, add the remainder of the flour with a wooden spoon.

7Turn onto a floured surface and knead into a smooth and elastic dough.

8Shape into a ball and turn into a large greased bowl.

9Cover and set in a warm place to rise for about two hours.

10Punch down the dough.

11Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight or at least 6 hours.
