  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter
  • 2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 6 tablespoons ice water
  • 1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 7 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal

    Cut butter into dry ingredients.

    Slowly add ice water.

    Knead dough and roll out on dough board, or press into bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate.
