- 3 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1/2 c. butter flavored vegetable shortening
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon flavor
Directions

1Cream sugar, butter and shortening together until smooth.

2Add eggs.

3Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

4Add to creamed mixture, blending just until dry ingredients are moistened.

5Add milk, vanilla and lemon flavoring.

6Pour batter into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.

7Tap pan on flat surface several times to remove air bubbles from batter.

8Bake at 325° for 15 minutes.

9Reduce oven temperature to 275° and bake for 2 to 3 hours or until wooden pick inserted comes out clean.

10Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool on wire racks.

11Yields 16 servings.
