- 3/4 c. margarine
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 (8 oz.) jar cherries, chopped
- 1/2 c. chopped almonds
- 3 drops red food coloring
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 1/2 c. cherry juice and water
Directions

1Combine margarine, brown sugar and flour and press in ungreased pan.

2Bake in 325° oven for 30 minutes; cool.

3Soften gelatin in water.

4Combine white sugar and juice drained from cherries and water to make 1/2 cup.

5Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes.

6Remove and stir in softened gelatin.

7Beat at medium speed until very stiff, about 20 minutes.

8(Mixture climbs beaters as it thickens.)

9Fold in cherries, nuts, food coloring and almond extract.

10Spread on top of baked crust.

11Let stand at room temperature until it sets.
