- 1 1/2 pounds green beans trimmed, halved
- 1 1/2 inches ginger
- 10 cloves garlic peeled
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 teaspoons cumin seeds whole
- 2 teaspoons coriander seeds ground
- 2 medium tomatoes peeled, chopped
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
Directions

1Put ginger and garlic into a food processor and add 1/2 cup water.

2Blend until fairly smooth.

3Heat the oil in a wide, heavy saucepan over a medium flame.

4When hot, put in the cumin seeds.

6Pour in th ginger-garlic paste.

9Put in the chopped tomatoes.

10Stir and cook for 2 minutes mashing the tomato pieces with the back of a slotted spoon.

11Put in the beans and salt and one cup of water.

12Bring to simmer.
