  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. dates
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • lemon juice or cinnamon to taste

Directions

  1. 1
    Mix flour, salt, soda, butter, baking powder and 1 cup brown sugar until crumbly. Pack half in greased pan. Combine remaining ingredients and boil 5 minutes, spread over crumbs. Cover with other half of crumbs. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
