- 2 onions, sliced thin
- 6 to 8 beets (cooked with skin on, then peeled, shredded and put aside)
- 3 carrots, shredded
- 3 stalks celery, cut up
- 1 small bag spices and clove of garlic
- bay leaves
- 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms
- 2 cans beef broth
- 1 can consomme
- 1 can tomato soup
Directions

1Saute onions in some oil or margarine.

2Add liquids and spices.

3(One tablespoon spices, bay leaves and clove of garlic in cheesecloth bag.)

4Add carrots and celery; let simmer until soft. Add some sour cream and dill; stir well.

5When serving the borsch, add a dab of sour cream on top.
