- 3 c. plain flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. plus 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 c. milk
Directions

1Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt, mixing well.

2Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles

3coarse meal.

4Combine egg and milk.

5Add to flour mixture,

6stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough

7out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead 8 to 10 times. Roll

8dough to 1 inch thickness.

9Cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.

10Place on ungreased baking sheet.

11Bake at 450° for 15 minutes until brown.
