- 1 c. molasses
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 c. lard
- 3/4 tsp. cloves
- 3/4 tsp. ginger
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 3/4 tsp. allspice
- 3/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 3 tsp. soda
Directions

1Mix all together and add enough plain flour to make a stiff dough. Divide in twelve equal parts and knead each part with self-rising flour. Pat out in a ruffled edge pie pan in a thin layer. Bake until brown. When layers cool, put dried apples mixed with applesauce that has been sweetened and your favorite spice added. Makes two 6 layered cakes.
