  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 4 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 bar German sweet chocolate, grated
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 4 egg whites, beaten stiff

    Cream butter and egg; add sugar all at once.

    Add flour sifted alternately

    egg whites and grated chocolate. Save a little

    chocolate for top of cake. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes in 9 x 13-inch pan, greased and floured.

    Frost with powdered sugar and butter frosting and sprinkle grated chocolate on top.
