- 4 eggs
- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 tsp. soda
- 5 c. flour
- 2 c. blackberry jam
- 1 c. strawberry preserves
- 1 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 Tbsp. each: cinnamon, allspice and cloves
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
- 1 c. raisins (optional)
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Add eggs one at a time and beat well.

3Put soda in buttermilk and sift together flour, cocoa and spices.

4Add alternately with buttermilk and soda, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

5Then add jam and preserves, nuts and raisins.

6Pour into tube pan lined with greased brown paper.

7Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350°.

8Makes a large cake.

9I just grease and flour the pan.

10Top with Caramel Frosting.
