Ingredients

  • 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. soft butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Directions

    Combine the first 3 ingredients and set aside.

    In a separate bowl, beat the brown sugar, butter and vanilla until creamy. Add egg and beat well. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in 1 1/3 cups chocolate chips.

    Spread in a 9-inch square pan. Bake at 375° for 23 to 25 minutes.

    Remove from oven and immediately put remaining chocolate chips on top. When they are shiny, spread evenly. When cool, put in refrigerator for 15 minutes to set chocolate.

    Cut into squares.
