Mushroom Strudel

  • 2 small onions
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1 1/2 lb. chopped, fresh mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1/2 box fillo leaves

    In half of butter, saute onions until shiny, about 8 to 10 minutes.

    Add chopped mushrooms and salt.

    Stir and cook for 5 minutes.

    Mushrooms will only be partially cooked.

    Butter cookie sheet.

    Lay one fillo leaf on the sheet.

    Butter it, then spread some mushroom filling and some bread crumbs.

    Continue layering buttered fillo leaves, filling and bread crumbs.

    Top with fillo. Butter the top layer.

    Bake at 375° for about 40 minutes.
