Ingredients

  • 2 oz. (3 pkg.) yeast
  • 3 1/2 c. lukewarm water or milk or small can evaporated milk and potato water to make 3 c.
  • 1 to 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening or lard
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 8 to 10 c. flour

Directions

    Dissolve the yeast in water (100° to 115°), about 10 minutes. Add all except the flour and mix well.

    Add flour, stir and knead as dough becomes stiff.

    Knead until smooth, about 8 to 10 minutes.
