Ingredients

  • 1 c. dry beans (mixed red and white)
  • 4 c. water
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 8 oz. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 to 1/2 c. salsa
  • 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp. to 1 Tbsp. chili powder to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 2 Tbsp. ketchup

Directions

    Soak beans in water overnight or bring to boil for one minute. Turn off and soak 2 to 3 hours.

    Cook until soft.

    Fry bacon and ground beef.

    Add vegetables and saute until soft.

    Add to beans. Add remaining ingredients and let cook for several hours in slow cooker.

    Adjust seasonings, if necessary.
