Ingredients
- 2 c. sifted regular flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Sift together into a bowl:

2flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar.

3Add shortening.

4Cut in with pastry blender until the mixture looks like coarse cornmeal.

5Add milk all at once.

6Stir just enough to make a soft dough.

7Turn out onto a lightly floured board.

8Knead lightly for 30 seconds.

9Roll out to a thickness of 1/2-inch.

10Cut with a floured 2-inch round cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.

11Bake at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes.

12Makes about 16 biscuits.
