- 1 smoked ham hock
- 2 lbs green beans
- 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 34 cup smoked gouda cheese (divided in half, shredded)
- 14 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup French's French fried onions
Directions

1Snap the ends off of the green beans and then snap the green beans in half.

2Place the green beans in a crock pot with the ham hock.

3Add enough water to barely cover the green beans.

4Cook on high for 4 hours.

5Take the green beans and ham hock out of the crockpot.

6Gently remove the meat off of the bone of the ham hock and place the meat into a bowl.

7Working with your hands tear the ham into tiny pieces.

8Pour the cream of mushroom soup and the buttermilk into the bowl with the ham.

9Stir to combine.

10Stir in half of the cheese and then gently fold in the green beans carefully so the beans do not break.

11Pour the mixture into a buttered casserole dish.

12Top with the rest of the cheese and the french fried onions.

13Bake on 375 for 20 minutes or until bubbly and hot.
