Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. each: dates, raisins and prunes
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 stick butter or oleo
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. white flour
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon or 1/4 tsp. nutmeg or 1/4 tsp. cloves (optional)

Directions

    Boil dates, raisins and prunes in together in water for 5 minutes.

    Add butter or oleo; set aside.

    In a bowl, mix eggs, soda, vanilla, salt, flour and chopped nuts.

    Add fruit mixture to batter.

    Add cinnamon, nutmeg or cloves, if desired.

    Bake in a 7 x 11-inch pan at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Cool and cut.
