  • 1 c. pecans, chopped and toasted
  • 1 2/3 c. sifted plain flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground mace
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/3 c. vegetable oil (Crisco)
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 1 2/3 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. milk

Directions

    Sift flour, baking powder and salt, mace and set aside.

    Cream butter and sugar in large bowl.

    Beat to fluffy.

    Beat in eggs, one at a time.

    Add vanilla, stir in nuts.

    Pour in greased and floured large tube pan or three (9-inch) pans.

    Bake in oven at 350° for 45 or 50 minutes.

    Cool and turn on rack to finish cooling.

    Ice with Caramel Icing.
