Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 1/2 c. oatmeal
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. cold water
- 6 to 7 c. flour
Directions

1Mix yeast in warm water.

2Set aside.

3To the boiling water, add oatmeal, shortening, brown sugar, molasses and salt and mix. Add cold water.

4When mixture is cooled to lukewarm, add yeast mixture.

5Mix in flour.

6Knead on floured board.

7Set to rise in warm place until double in bulk (1 hour).

8Punch down; shape into loaves and let rise again.

9Bake at 350° for about 50 to 60 minutes.
