Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. oatmeal (uncooked)
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. molasses (mild)
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 5 to 6 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Pour hot water over oatmeal in large bowl.

3Add shortening, salt and molasses.

4Let cool to lukewarm.

5Stir in about 2 cups of the flour.

6Add yeast and mix well.

7Continue to stir in remaining flour, gradually, until dough springs back when pressed with finger.

8Let rise to double the amount.

9Knead down.
-
10Let rise and form into two loaves.

11Let rise and bake at 325° about 45 minutes.
