Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. honey
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 5 c. flour

Directions

    Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water.

    Add oats to boiling water.

    Cool slightly.

    Add honey, margarine and salt.

    When lukewarm, add yeast and stir in flour.

    Add additional flour as you knead mixture until it is not sticky.

    Place back in bowl. Cover and let rise until twice the size.

    Knead again and form 2 loaves.

    Place in greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans.

    Cover and let rise again.

    Bake at 450° for 15 minutes or 375° for 30 minutes.
