- 2 c. oatmeal
- 1 c. raisins
- 4 c. boiling water
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 3 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 10 c. flour
Directions

1Pour boiling water over oatmeal and raisins. Add sugar, shortening, salt and molasses. Cool to lukewarm.

2Add yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Add 5 cups flour and beat well. Add 5 more cups of flour.

3Knead well.

4Let rise until double.

5Knead down.

6Let rise again, then put in tins and let rise.

7Bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.
