  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 1/2 c. soft margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour

    Pour water over oats; cover and let stand 20 minutes.

    Cream together sugar and shortening.

    Blend in vanilla and eggs.

    Stir in oatmeal.

    Sift flour and spices together.

    Add to creamed mixture and blend well.

    Pour into greased and floured sheet pan. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes.
