  • 1-3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted

  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans. Whisk together the egg and buttermilk; add to dry ingredients just until moistened. Turn onto a floured surface; knead 10 times.
