- 3 cups raw quick-cooking oats
- 23 cup sugar
- 12 cup sifted all-purpose flour, SIFT before measuring
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 34 cup butter or 34 cup margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1PREHEAT oven to 350F Lightly grease a 13x9x2 inch pan.

2IN large bowl, combine oats, sugar, flour and salt.

3WITH pastry blender or fork, cut in butter until texture of coarse cornmeal.

4STIR in vanilla; MIX well.

5WITH HANDS, press mixture evenly into prepared pan.

6BAKE 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden.

7COOL slightly.

8CUT into bars while still warm.

9LET cool completely in pan.
