Old English Fruit Pie

  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 egg yolks (set whites aside)
  • fruit

Directions

    Mix flour and butter or margarine.

    Add salt, milk, sugar, baking powder and egg yolks.

    Beat egg whites and add to mixture. Place 2 to 3 cups sliced fruit in bottom of deep dish (use peaches, apples, pears and nectarines).

    Pour batter over fruit. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.

    Serve with a dollop of ice cream.
