Old-Fashioned Pound Cake

- 1 lb. butter (2 c.)
- 1 lb. sugar (3 1/2 c.)
- 1 lb. eggs (10 large or 12 small)
- 1 lb. sifted flour (4 c.)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Grease a 10-inch tube pan; set aside.

2Preheat oven to 300°. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

3Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4Gradually add flour; blend well.

5Pour batter into prepared pan.

6Bake 2 hours or until a wooden pick inserted near the center comes out clean.

7Cool in pan 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

8Makes 12 to 14 servings.
