  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. raisins, dried cherries or any favorite dried fruit
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Pour into prepared dish and bake 3 1/2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes for the first 2 hours. Bake until rice is very tender.
