Old-Timey Bread Pudding

  • 4 slices buttered bread, toasted
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. evaporated milk or half and half
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Cut bread into cubes and place in a greased 2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle with raisins.

    Mix eggs, 1/4 cup of sugar, salt, milk and water and pour over raisins.

    Let stand for 10 minutes. Add vanilla and stir.

    Sprinkle with remaining sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.
