- 2/3 oz. yeast
- 1 c. milk (lukewarm)
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 tart apple
- oil (for deep frying)
- powdered sugar
Directions

1Blend yeast with lukewarm milk.

2Sift the flour and salt.

3Add milk and yeast, then egg.

4Add raisins and minced apple.

5Leave batter in a warm place to rise double its size.

6Heat the oil to 375°.

7Put two metal spoons into the batter.

8Shape balls with the two spoons and drop them into the oil.

9Fry them for 8 minutes, until brown.

10Should be soft and not greasy.

11Drain on absorbent paper.

12Serve covered thickly with powdered sugar.
