- 1 white onion or yellow, sliced fine
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 red onion sliced fine
- 1 red chile small, seeded and chopped fine, optional
- 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt
- salt
- black pepper
Directions

1Cook yellow or white onion in oil for 3 to 4 minutes until softened but not browned. Add cumin seeds and cook 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown. Turn into a serving bowl.

2Add remaining ingredients, seasoning well to taste. Allow to stand for 10 to 15 minutes before serving, if possible, to allow flavors to blend. This is a great accompaniment to fried dishes, steak or Indian dishes.
