  • olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 onions
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 4 1/4 cups chicken broth
  • toast
  • cheese grated

Directions

    Melt the butter and the oil in a saucepan.

    Julienne the onions and garlic. Cook in the oil and butter, the golden brown butter and oil will give color to the soup.

    Add enough chicken broth to cover the onions and cook for 15 minutes.

    Serve in a bowl and add a piece of toast on top.

    Add grated cheese to cover the soup and toast and place the bowl in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
