- 2 tablespoons butter
- 6 onions
- 1 clove garlic
- 4 1/4 cups chicken broth

Directions

1Melt the butter and the oil in a saucepan.

2Julienne the onions and garlic. Cook in the oil and butter, the golden brown butter and oil will give color to the soup.

3Add enough chicken broth to cover the onions and cook for 15 minutes.

4Serve in a bowl and add a piece of toast on top.

5Add grated cheese to cover the soup and toast and place the bowl in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
