- 2 lb. onions, sliced
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 8 c. water
- 3 envelopes G. Washington broth
- soup bones
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. white wine
- Italian or French bread, sliced thin
- grated Parmesan cheese
- Swiss Gruyere cheese
Directions

1Slice onion.

2Saute with oil until cooked and light brown. Add water, broth powder and soup bones.

3After cooking a while, add salt to suit your taste.

4Add white wine.

5Simmer very slowly 2 to 3 hours.

6Butter slices of bread and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

7Place slices on cookie sheet and bake to delicate brown. Put slice of bread in each bowl and pour soup over.

8Top with grated Swiss Gruyere cheese.
