- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 well beaten eggs
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. orange juice
- 2 Tbsp. grated orange peel
- 5 c. flour
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Add shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Soften yeast in this mixture.

3Add eggs, orange juice and peel; beat thoroughly.

4Add flour; mix until a soft dough.

5Cover; let stand 10 minutes.

6Knead on lightly floured surface.

7Place in greased bowl; let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about 2 hours.

8Punch down.

9Roll dough 1/2-inch thick.

10Cut in a 10-inch strip, 1/2-inch

11wide.

12Tie each in a knot.

13Arrange on a greased baking sheet.

14Cover.

15Let rise until doubled.

16Bake in hot 400° oven for 15 minutes.

17Spread with orange topping.
