- 2 sticks butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda, dissolved in buttermilk
- 3 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1 (8 oz.) box dates
- 1 lb. orange slices candy, cut up
- 1 can flaked coconut
- 2 c. chopped pecans
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Add eggs one at a time.

3Add flour alternately with buttermilk.

4Roll nuts, candy and dates in 1/2 cup flour (1/2 cup in addition to the listed amount).

5Add to mixture along with coconut.

6Bake in tube pan at 250° for 2 1/2 hours.

7After the cake is done, mix 1 cup orange juice with 2 cups confectioners sugar and pour over cake while hot.

8Let set in pan overnight.
