  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 3/4 c. sour milk
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • juice and grated rind of 1 orange
  • 1 c. coconut
  • 1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1/4 c. hot water
  • 2 c. flour, sifted
  • 1 c. chopped raisins

Directions

    Cream the shortening and sugar thoroughly.

    Add well beaten eggs and salt, also soda dissolved in hot water.

    Add flour and sour milk alternately, then orange juice, rind, raisins and coconut.

    Bake at 375° for about 30 minutes in layers.
