Ingredients: 1 c. butter; 2 c. white sugar; 4 eggs; 1 1/2 c. buttermilk; 1 tsp. baking soda; 4 c. sifted plain flour; 4 Tbsp. grated orange rind; 1 lb. dates, chopped fine; 1 c. nuts, chopped

2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. sifted plain flour
4 Tbsp. grated orange rind
1 lb. dates, chopped fine
1 c. nuts, chopped

Directions

Cream butter and sugar.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating between each addition.

Dissolve and stir soda in buttermilk. Alternate adding flour and buttermilk mixture.

Add rind, dates and nuts.

Bake in tiny buttered muffin tins at 325° for approximately 20 minutes, or bake in greased and floured tube pan until a toothpick inserted into middle of cake comes out clean. While still hot, spoon over the glaze.
