- 2 egg whites
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/3 c. melted butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
- 1 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 c. rum
- 1/3 c. chopped walnuts
- whipped cream or ice cream (as garnish)
Directions

1Grease tube pan; line bottom with greased wax paper.

2Beat 2 egg whites until fluffy, gradually adding 1/4 cup of the sugar. In a small bowl and using same beater, beat egg yolks with the other 1/4 cup sugar, then add to egg whites.

3Combine flour, baking powder and salt.

4Fold into egg mixture; stir in melted butter and vanilla.

5Pour in pan.

6Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.
