  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. flour, sifted
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk with 1 Tbsp. soda dissolved in it
  • 1 lb. orange slice candy, cut up
  • 1 lb. dates, cut up
  • 1 c. grated coconut
  • 2 c. chopped pecans

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Roll candy and dates in part of flour sifted for cake.

    Add remaining flour to egg and butter mixture, alternating with milk.

    Add coconut, candy, dates and nuts.

    Place mixture in tube pan and bake for 2 to 2 1/2 hours in a 300° oven.
