  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 lb. chopped dates
  • 1 lb. chopped orange slice candy
  • 2 c. nuts
  • 1 c. orange juice
  • 2 c. powdered sugar

Directions

    Cream sugar and butter.

    Add eggs.
  3. 3
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to mixture.
  4. 4
    Place flour in large bowl and add dates, orange slice candy and nuts.

    Stir to coat.

    Add flour mixture to creamed mixture and mix by hand.

    Bake in greased tube pan at 250° for 2 1/2 hours.
