Orange Slice Christmas Cake

  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. oleo
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 lb. orange slice candy, cut up
  • 1/2 lb. dates, chopped
  • 1 c. coconut

Directions

    Mix 1 1/2 cups of the flour with nuts and fruit.

    Cream oleo and sugar, beat in eggs one at a time.

    Mix soda, salt, and flour; add to creamed mixture with milk, add fruit and nuts.

    Bake in 250° oven, in well greased, large loaf pan, or two smaller ones, for 2 1/2 hours.

    Turn out immediately and glaze with 2 cups powdered sugar and small can frozen orange juice.
