  • 1 1/2 lb. (1 inch thick) sirloin steak (I use sirloin tip roast and have them slice it really thin)
  • 1/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed or 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. grated fresh ginger root
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 1/2 c. chopped green peppers
  • 2 c. chopped white sweet onions
  • 1/2 c. soy sauce or more to taste
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 c. beef bouillon or broth (from meat when you stir-fry it)
  • 1 (6 oz.) can water chestnuts
  • 2 c. mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch, dissolved in beef broth
  • 6 green onions with tops, cut into 1-inch pieces

    Marinate the thin slices of sirloin in 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oil and pepper for 3 hours.
