Oven Cracker Jacks

  • 6 qt. popped corn
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. soda

Directions

    Put popped corn in a buttered bowl and set aside.

    Heat the margarine, corn syrup and brown sugar and bring to a boil.

    Add cream of tartar and reduce heat.

    Boil for 5 minutes (no more). Remove from heat and add soda.

    Pour over corn and stir well. Spread caramel corn on cookie sheet and bake in oven at 225° to 250° for 1 hour.

    Stir every 15 minutes.

    Keeps well in sealed container.
